The first ONE Championship event broadcast on Amazon Prime Video was an explosive success.
One of five mixed martial arts matches at Singapore’s Singapore Indoor Stadium on April 1 saw Zebaztian Kadestam of Sweden taking against Iuri Lapicus of Romania.
Kadestam would quickly add another victory to his resume under the ONE Championship banner.
Kadestam came back to his feet and started hunting for an opening to land something important a few moments after Lapicus scored a takedown and landed strikes on the ground. In the 57th second, Kadestam connected with a superb right uppercut that knocked Lapicus out.
After beating Valmir da Silva through stoppage in February, Kadestam has won two straight fights by knockout in the opening round. A veteran of ten bouts in ONE Championship, he is now 6-and-4 with the organization, all victories coming through knockout.
With tonight’s loss to Kadestam, Lapicus’s record now stands at 0-3, following a first-round knockout loss to Christian Lee and a no-contest draw with Eddie Alvarez. Until his recent losing streak, Lapicus had never tasted defeat in his professional career.
