After ten years and twenty-four fights in the UFC, Santos (22-11 MMA, 14-10 UFC) has signed a multifight contract with PFL. During the 2023 PFL light heavyweight season, Santos will be a participant.
In recent weeks, Santos is the second major UFC fighter to sign with the PFL. According to Dana White, the promotion made a mistake in August when featherweight contender Shane Burgos signed with PFL after his UFC contract ended.
“It was an amicable separation with the UFC,” Alex Davis, the manger of Thiago Santos said.
“Thiago is very grateful for everything the UFC did for him, and he’s very grateful toward the PFL for signing with him. He’s looking forward to winning a million dollars.”
Santos leaves the UFC after a disappointing 5-and-6-fight losing streak. Since his debut in 2013, he has been the main attraction at many UFC events, including a light heavyweight championship challenge at UFC 239 in July 2016 that he ultimately lost via split decision to the then-champion Jon Jones.
