Bi Nguyen isn’t seeking to show something to anybody, aside from getting her hand raised.
At “ONE Championship: Battleground III,” which airs Friday by way of tape delay, Nguyen (6-6) takes on Jenelyn Olsim (4-2) in a strawweight bout as she seems to be to make it back-to-back wins in 2021.
Nguyen is coming off a split-decision win over Ritu Phogat at “ONE Championship: Dangal” in May, a matchup that “insulted” her when it was booked.
“I’ve been doing this for a long time,” Nguyen acknowledged throughout a digital media day session. “I have a ‘good ego,’ I don’t have a ‘bad ego,’ which means I’m not in here to prove anything to anyone. … There’s things in my career I need to do. I need to claim more wins.”
Ultimately, Nguyen is concentrated on placing herself able to achieve the highest of her division to combat for the title when the atomweight grand prix is accomplished, and the subsequent step in that quest is successful towards Olsim.
Listen to Nguyen discuss what she discovered from the combat with Phogat, her expectations for the bout towards Olsim, and extra within the video above.
