A welterweight matchup between Neil Magny and Shavkat Rakhmonov is being finalized for a UFC event in June.
Magny (26-8 MMA, 19-7 UFC) and Rakhmonov (15-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) are slated to clash at UFC Fight Night on June 25. The event does not have a location or venue finalized.
MMA Junkie verified with multiple people close to the situation that contracts have been issued for the bout. The people requested anonymity because the UFC has yet to make an official announcement.
In three octagon bouts, 27-year-old Kazakhstani fighter Rakhmonov has notched finishes of Alex Oliveira, Michel Prazeres and, most recently, a Performance of the Night knockout of Carlston Harris in February.
Magny, a 26-fight octagon veteran, is coming off a split decision win over Max Griffin at UFC on ESPN 33. Magny’s 19 victories in UFC welterweight competition are tied with Georges St-Pierre for most in divisional history.
With the addition, the updated June 25 lineup includes:
- Amir Albazi vs. Tim Elliott
- Vanessa Demopoulos vs. Jinh Yu Frey
- Alan Baudot vs. Josh Parisian
- Chris Curtis vs. Rodolfo Vieira
- Tyson Nam vs. Tagir Ulanbekov
- Neil Magny vs. Shavkat Rakhmonov
