Muhammad Mokaev defeats Malcolm Gordon with an armbar in the closing stages of their match

Midway through the third round, Malcolm Gordon gained some ground by dominating grappling exchanges with Mokaev (6-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC), but the 22-year-mat old’s talents ultimately proved to be too much, and Mokaev got an armbar at the 4:26 mark of Round 3 on Saturday at Etihad Arena.

Mokaev improves to 3-0 inside the octagon and earns his fourth career submission with the win. The rising challenger, who wants to become the UFC’s youngest champion, said he was going for a knockout and a black belt. Mokaev has earned the rank of purple belt in jiu jitsu
