TMZ has confirmed the reports that Anderson Silva, a legend in the UFC, will be Jake Paul’s next opponent.
There was an initial bias in the odds that put Paul in the position of a small favorite. At first, the YouTuber was listed as high as a -180 favorite at certain outlets. Opening odds for Silva had him as a +150 underdog, making him a slight underdog.
Many of the first bettors shared your sense that this was strange. The chances have changed significantly for the UFC legend in just a few short hours.
According to Pro Boxing Odds, Paul went from a -180 favorite to a +130 underdog in the span of just a few hours. At the time of this writing, Silva is favored by -160, but he might become an even bigger favorite if bettors continue to see him as a bargain.
Paul has yet to lose a fight in his brief professional boxing career. Former mixed martial arts legend Silva made a successful comeback to the professional boxing scene last year. In 2021, he had two fights, and he defeated former WBC champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and fellow MMA star Tito Ortiz with quick knockouts in both.
Silva is not just significantly larger and more skilled than Paul, but also nearly twenty years Paul’s senior. In contrast to Paul’s young age of 25, Silva is 47.
