The reigning UFC heavyweight champion has been at odds with the organization over a contract for some time, and he has already stated that the argument is about more than just money.
“It’s not simply money,” Ngannou told reporters. “Obviously, money is a part of it, but it’s also the terms of the contract that I don’t agree with.”
On Wednesday's media day, former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold voiced his own concerns regarding fighter compensation ahead of his upcoming battle at UFC 278. Apparently, Ngannou saw Rockhold's interview and was so incensed by the heavyweight champion's comments that he unleashed a barrage of Tweets condemning the UFC's sponsorship policies.
Ngannou claims he missed out on more than $1 million due of the UFC's sponsorship contract with a crypto platform.
“Last year, I lost a deal of over a million dollars from a crypto exchange because the partnership with CRYPTO.COM,” Ngannou wrote. “What do I got from it?”
