Cain Velasquez spent almost a full month in jail. On Saturday, he performed the Hurricanrana for the first time, and the place went wild.
Velasquez, a former heavyweight champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and a WWE superstar, is now competing for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide.
Velasquez, at age 40, competed in a six-man tag team bout alongside teammates Pagano and Blue Demon Jr. The tournament was held at Arizona State University, Velasquez’s alma mater, at the brand-new Mullett Arena.
“Thank you. To be here in front of you guys, right now – it’s a dream come true,” Velasquez said. “I truly appreciate all that you guys have always done supporting me (and) my family. Thank you guys forever. Forever. My heart is happy to be here with you guys. I will always continue to fight, forever. Keep going up. Forever. Thank you guys.”
Velasquez won the battle with a pin fall after 20 minutes of wrestling. Velasquez displayed the trademark big man agility he is known for throughout the bout, but never more so than when he jumped from the top rope outside the ring and landed on all five of the other wrestlers below.
