There are reports that Edson Barboza will not be competing against Ilia Topuria in the co-main event of UFC 63 in Las Vegas.
So says a report from MMA Fighting. The Brazilian player injured his right knee and will not be able to play on October 29. Whether or not “El Matador” will remain on the card is currently unknown.
Barboza (22-11) is currently on a two-fight losing streak, having lost by unanimous decision to Bryce Mitchell and by technical knockout to Giga Chikadze. The 36-year-old had previously won his last two bouts, in October 2020 against Makwan Amirkhani and May 2021 against Shane Burgos.
Topuria (12-0) is aiming for his fifth consecutive victory inside the Octagon, having previously knocked out Youssef Zalal, Damon Jackson, Ryan Hall, and Jai Herbert. The 25-year-old has a professional record of 11-0 with four knockouts and seven submits.
As of right now, UFC Vegas 63 is scheduled on Sunday, October 29 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
