Calvin Kattar has no opponents scheduled, but his coach has one in mind.
Arnold Allen, a guest fighter at UFC Fight Night 208 on Saturday, sought a top-five opponent. Kattar is ranked fifth in the promo. Chartier has urged the promotion to schedule the bout for the second half of 2022.
Chartier stated on Instagram, “We said yes last autumn and asked again this week.” Chartier said Kattar wants it before year’s end.
The UFC scheduled Kattar vs. Allen for 2021. Due to Allen’s injury, the promotion booked Kattar vs. Giga Chikadze. Kattar won unanimously. Allen beat Dan Hooker by first-round TKO.
Kattar (23-6 MMA, 7-4 UFC) returned in June and lost a contentious split decision to Josh Emmett. He’s 3-2 since 2020, beating Jeremy Stephens, Dan Ige, and Chikadze.
Allen (18-1 MMA, 9-0 UFC) has won 11 straight fights, including against Hooker, Sodiq Yusuff, and Gilbert Melendez.
