Velasquez was released from the Santa Clara County Main Jail North in San Jose, California, at 05:00 on Wednesday morning after serving 253 consecutive days there.
During a pretrial hearing on Tuesday, Judge Arthur Bocanegra granted Velasquez $1 million bail despite the fact that he had been denied bail three times and had a writ appeal to a California appellate court rejected.
In addition to posting bail, additional conditions such as GPS monitoring, CTE/TBI rehabilitation, and location limitations may apply. Many in the MMA world are relieved that Velasquez can now go home to his wife and two kids.
“I’m doing great,” Velasquez told news outlets.
“I appreciate it, man. I just feel blessed, you know? I’m ready to go home, be with the loved ones, family, friends, and make something positive of this whole situation.
“… Thank you to everybody who…. I love all of you. just always continue to be better as a person, always do good things – just make something positive of this terrible situation. My family and I are going to do that.”
