Aspen Ladd, a former UFC fighter, has agreed to compete for the PFL as a featherweight,
“I want to thank the Professional Fighters League for giving me the opportunity to continue my career in the PFL SmartCage,” Ladd said in a released statement. “I am excited about the PFL’s sport season format where you win and advance based on talent and merit. I look forward to testing myself against the best women’s featherweights in the world.”
Due to Ladd’s history of weight misses, which resulted in fight cancellations, he was released by the UFC. Due to Ladd weighing in at 138 pounds, two pounds over the bantamweight limit, their scheduled fight at UFC Fight Night 210 had to be canceled. After commission officials intervened to prevent Ladd from losing weight, the promotion let her go.
In the main event of UFC Fight Night 195 last October, Ladd made her featherweight debut against Norma Dumont, however she was defeated by unanimous decision. In her nearly five years with the UFC, Ladd knocked out Lina Lansberg, Tonya Evinger, and Yana Kunitskaya. During that time, she had three bouts postponed due to weight problems.
