After an initial report from a source that Ismagulov (24-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) and Tsarukyan (18-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) had verbally agreed to a confrontation at UFC Fight Night on December 17.
Event hosts Las Vegas, Nevada’s UFC Apex. No announcements regarding airings have been made as of yet.
Ismagulov, 31, has only competed in the octagon five times since making his debut in December 2018, but no opponent has been able to successfully counter him. Since suffering his first career loss in September 2015, the Russian has won 19 consecutive bouts.
In the meantime, Tsarukyan, at age 25, will try to recover from his first loss in the main event. The Russian dropped a close unanimous decision to Mateusz Gamrot at UFC on ESPN 38 in June, after winning five straight fights at 155 pounds.
