DALLAS – Amanda Nunes claims she dragged out her battle with Julianna Peña at UFC 277 to the last seconds on purpose to make a point.
Nunes (22-5 MMA, 15-2 UFC) avenged her shocking loss to Peña (11-5 MMA, 7-3 UFC) on Saturday at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. In order to recover the women’s bantamweight title, Nunes defeated Peña by unanimous decision.
It took three knockdowns and a deep slash to the forehead for Nunes to finally put Peña down, but it was too late.
Nunes’ second-round submission victory against Peña at UFC 269 in December was a stunning upset.
Nunes limped and used crutches to get to the UFC 277 press conference after the fight.
