After suffering a pounding from David Morrell on Saturday in Minneapolis, Fight Freaks Unite reports that Aidos Yerbossynuly was placed in an induced coma on Sunday night. A “source with knowledge of the matter” was mentioned by the media outlet.
The 30-year-old Yerbossynuly was sent to the adjacent Hennepin County Medical Center for examination after being knocked out in the 12th and final round of their 168-pound bout at The Armory. The Kazakh resident in the United States reportedly suffered brain hemorrhaging and is currently in a coma.
Another person remarked, without providing any other information, simply, “He is not good. I don’t have a lot of information, only that he is hurt pretty bad.”
A joint statement was issued by TGB Promotions and Premier Boxing Champions. TGB Promotions and PBC have representatives in Minneapolis with Aidos’s team, and the issue is being actively monitored. We can’t provide any details at this time out of respect for him and his family’s privacy, but we’d want to urge the boxing world to keep him in their prayers.
