“Bigfoot” Silva, who has been knocked out twice since June 13, has been scheduled to face Azerbaijani kickboxing and muay thai star Zabit Samedov on Oct. 9.
It was recently confirmed that the fight would take place in Azerbaijan under the MixFight Championship banner.
Silva, 42, has only lost one of his last 15 fights.
In 12 of those battles, he has been knocked out of the arena.
Two weeks later, he was knocked out cold and stood up in a kickboxing match.
With Silva’s extended losing streak and history of knockouts, the Association of Boxing Commissions has made it difficult, if not impossible, for him to be licensed in the United States (ABC).
Azerbaijan, for example, is not governed by the ABC and as a result, license concerns do not apply.
