After UFC on ESPN 40, Thiago Santos will not be too hard on himself.
On Saturday, Santos (22-11 MMA, 14-10 UFC) suffered his sixth straight defeat when he was submitted by Jamahal Hill by TKO in the fourth round (11-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC). However, “Marreta” lost the Fight of the Night.
Even though Santos has suffered a string of disheartening defeats in recent years, he’s determined to turn things around.
A split decision loss to Jon Jones at UFC 239 in July 2019 left Santos with little momentum. He was hurt in the fight and needed surgery on both knees, which kept him out of action for 16 months.
Santos has now lost to Hill, Teixeira, Rakic, and Ankalaev. His lone victory came by way of a lopsided decision against Johnny Walker.
